Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant The candidate will provide direct support to the construction defect litigation and insurance coverage department. Work closely with attorneys and team members to oversee case management from inception through trial/settlement and post-trial/post-settlement. Organize and maintain case files, master documents, document lists/indexes, and document databases. Manage calendar case deadlines, including hearings, depositions, discovery, and pleading deadlines. Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and other appointments. Under attorney direction, draft, review, proofread and revise legal documents (pleadings, discovery, notices, summons, subpoenas) and correspondence. Prepare, file through E-portal, and serve legal documents. Perform legal research and research using online media for experts, background searches, case investigation. Assist with hearing preparation, including identifying documents, organizing and assembling hearing binders, and drafting agendas and indexes. Assist with deposition preparation, including identifying and gathering exhibit documents, and creating witness outlines. Attend depositions, court hearings, and trials with the attorney, including taking notes and summarizing hearing arguments, rulings, and orders; Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony. Coordinating the collection, review, and production of documents and responding to discovery requests. Perform litigation support duties such as Bates stamping exhibits, preparing spreadsheets and CDs, hyperlinking PDFs, reviewing litigation dockets, and ensuring that the dates are calendared correctly. Serve as a liaison between the client and attorney, and between attorney and all parties. Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress. The candidate must have experience as a litigation legal assistant or a litigation paralegal with stable employment history. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software is required. Strong written and verbal communications with analytical and problem-solving skills are needed. Must have working knowledge and competency with case management software. Ability to follow directions, prioritize workload and assignments is needed.
