Intellectual Property Paralegal Duties: Support Intellectual Property department with patent and trademark prosecution matters. Founders Legal adapts traditional legal procedures to function in the modern tech world paperless, automated, and able to leverage emerging technology to accommodate the needs of our clients. Our location in the Tech Village provides a unique creative workplace environment that is unlike traditional law firms. Will be primarily responsible for interfacing with USPTO examiners and clients regarding case status and procedure, drafting documents, and performing legal research. Must have previous legal experience who is interested in a deep immersion in legal matters central to patent and trademark prosecution. Draft patent filing documents including cover sheets, assignments, declarations, and Information Disclosure Statements for attorney review and finalization. Research grounds for office action responses and prepare preliminary response drafts for attorneys to develop and finalize. Oversee domestic and foreign patent prosecution matters, including payment of foreign annuities and coordination of filings with foreign counsel, ensure completion of work items, and receive final invoices for same. Monitor deadlines in system, communicate case status and requirements to clients, and coordinate with attorneys to ensure that all applications and documents are filed in advance of their deadlines. Coordinate USPTO Examiner interviews, client meetings and instructions. Intake of client invention documentation, specimens, and other information required to prepare for filing new patent and trademark applications. Coordinate electronic signatures for patent and trademark applications, and file applications with USPTO. Prepare PCT applications using PCT Safe software, and file with USPTO. Work within database of patent and trademark applications in proprietary system built on Salesforce. Use and create document merge templates for emails and document creation. Qualifications: Paralegal certificate or other documented legal studies. Previous experience with patent prosecution, and knowledge of patent application timelines, deadlines, and USPTO procedures. Previous experience with Salesforce or other major database and reporting engines. Previous experience managing a high volume of case data in a complex software package. Advanced level of proficiency with technology and software tools. Ability to manage a high volume of email communications in Gmail. Prioritization of time expenditure to meet the most immediate deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality for clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
