Legal Assistant/Paralegal The candidate's responsibilities include: Work directly with attorneys by conducting legal research, preparing drafts of discovery demands and responses, preparing for trial, preparing demand letters, as well as preparing drafts of other various legal documents; Documenting and understanding legal proceedings in local, including utilization of state systems and local e-filing; Converse directly with lawyers, clients, administrative staff, clerical personnel, courtroom staff members; Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, client consultations and maintaining a detailed calendar; Proofread legal documents; Prepare monthly statements to clients; Analyze and provide summaries of discovery; and Maintain and organize electronic files; update files and provide clients with case status and information. Must have previous law firm experience in litigation - experience in real estate litigation and/or probate is a plus. Must be able to handle deadlines and have strong attention to detail. Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written required. Must be able to multi-task. Must have knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. Must be a team player where no task is too small or unimportant when working on projects. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with knowledge of document/case management and timekeeping software and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
