Litigation Associate Attorney Candidate will involve exposure and work in both state and federal courts. Will involve exposure to transactional work and intellectual property matters. While litigation will be a focus, will need to work on other assignments outside of litigation. Some of the specific responsibilities depending on experience will be:(1) Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and third parties;(2) Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and responses thereto;(3) Client communication;(4) Ability to work with peers and the principal in a collaborative team environment;(5) Attend routine court hearings;(6) Argue in support of and against motions in state and federal court;(7) Take and defend depositions;(8) Learn new areas of the law;(9) Complete CLE requirements and present what has been learned to the team;(10) Develop strategy and offer insight into situations; and,(11) General business and professional development. Qualifications: 1-2 years' experience Associate is required. Must have experience taking and defending depositions; drafting briefs in support of and opposition to motions; and, appearing for court hearings including, arguing positions on motions. Trial experience would be preferred. Law Review experience is preferred. Requires court experience and exceptional research and writing skills. Should also be open to positive criticism and editorial comments. Must have exceptional communication and writing skills. You must be able to understand novel concepts and think "outside the box."
