Legal Secretary/Assistant - Intake Office Responsibilities: Provide administrative support to Intake Paralegal, clients and handle phones. Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and attorneys. Conduct thorough exam of documents. Source and verify important case information. Draft letters and file various legal documents. Answer phone calls, take notes/messages, and redirect calls when appropriate. Maintain and update inventories in spreadsheets with specific details. Help maintain calendar and follow up with meeting deadlines and provide timely reminders. Qualifications: Proven experience as a legal secretary is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of legal terminology and court system helpful, but not required. A passion for helping others and making a difference in the lives of the clients. Knowledge of MS Office 365 software programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), PDF software (highlighting, conversion, labeling), and ability to learn and work with legal technology (court-filing and information retrieval computer systems, etc.). Typing skills of 50 WPM or higher. Ability to take and follow instructions/directions. Proficiency in communication, including proper use of grammar with the English language. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. Ability to multi-task and be comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people. Able to work from time to time in high-stress situations. Able to work occasional overtime.
