Criminal Defense Attorney The candidate will represent the existing client base. Work closely with the firm's clients, administrative staff, and senior partners. Handle a diverse caseload, have stellar research and writing skills, can communicate effectively, and use today's technology well. Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions. Analyze client needs, identify solutions, and determine case strategies. Supervise administrative staff, paralegals, and law clerks. Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action. Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence. Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings. Preside over paralegals, administrative assistants in connection with keeping track of time records, reviewing client billing, setting up client meetings, and completing client projects. The candidate must have an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree with 2 years of related experience and 1-2 years of experience working in a law firm environment. Must be a member of local bar association - active member preferred; advanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis); proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is necessary. Must be able to handle heavy caseload with little supervision.
