Civil Rights Attorney The candidate will appear in federal and state courts on behalf of clients, and argue motions and prepare for trials. Will interview prospective clients and evaluate their claims for relief or their cause for civil action. Effectively educate clients on their rights and provide appropriate warnings. Communicate and respond to clients' questions and concerns in timely manner. File and argue motions in state and federal courts. Brief motions and responses in active cases. Prepare appeals before the Board of immigration Appeals and at the Circuit Court level, if necessary. Prepare for and participate in trials at the state and federal level. Be comfortable filing civil actions against government agents, police officers, municipalities, and corporations that abuse individual civil rights. The candidate should have a B.A. or B.S. degree. Should also have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or a law school approved by the California Bar). Should have license to practice law in any US State or territory, active and in good standing, preferably in Virginia / New Jersey / Texas / California / Arizona / Georgia / Florida. Should preferably have 1+ year of experience in law. License in multiple jurisdictions is desired. Participation in Moot court, Law Review or another journal, and/or clinic experience is a plus. Bilingual skills a plus.
