Staff Attorney (Litigation) The candidate will engage with firm colleagues, existing clients and potential clients in new matter onboarding and pre-litigation claim research and investigation. Will be drafting complaints and responsive pleadings. Drafting and arguing procedural, substantive, and dispositive motions. Drafting and responding to discovery requests. Preparing for, conducting, or defending depositions. Representing clients at hearings and trial. Contribute to the firm's creditor rights practice by representing creditors, investors, and mortgage servicers in all stages of the foreclosure process, including contested cases. Research and analysis of statutes, case law, and regulatory requirements. Legal research and writing of legal memoranda. Representation and advice in large- or small-scale transactional matters. Attend hearings, mediations, trials, settlement conferences, and other appearances, as necessary. Properly utilize firm's case management system and reporting to ensure all applicable deadlines are met. Maintain a clear focus on firm, client, and court timeline expectations by prioritizing and working at a fast pace on a high volume of files. Must possess and demonstrate exceptional communication, organizational, advocacy skills, and superior writing skills. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance. Must be able and willing to pitch in and help when and where needed as the firm's caseload demands. Should have 3 years experience in litigation practice. Previous foreclosure, bankruptcy, or creditor rights experience is a plus. Must be licensed to practice law in at least one of the following states (GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, OH, TN, WI), but any attorney not licensed in the state of Tennessee on the date of hire will be required to seek admission. Admission to practice in federal district courts, bankruptcy courts, or federal courts of appeals is a plus.
