Legal Secretary The candidate will greet clients and visitors when they arrive at the office and determine the reason for their visit. Will answer phone calls and respond to general emails. Gather and research cases, including client employment, financial and medical records, and other legal documentation. Find pertinent laws and court decisions in legal publications and databases that pertain to current cases. Draw up legal documents such as appeals, complaints, discovery requests, motions, pretrial agreements, subpoenas, and summonses. Take notes at meetings, client interviews, depositions, and hearings. Handle incoming and outgoing mail, and schedule meetings and appointments. Maintain organized files, including copies of all documents and correspondence. Manage invoices and expenditures. The candidate should have a High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or vocational training in business administration, criminal justice administration, legal administration, or related field preferred. Should have 3+ years of administrative experience in the legal field. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and legal software. Should have 5+ years of experience working for a managing partner. Experience in Insurance Defense, Public Entity Defense, and Civil Litigation is required. Should have excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with management, staff, and external entities.
