Legal Secretary The candidate will support attorneys by performing a range of duties including calendaring, researching case information, scheduling meetings, filing legal documents, working directly with vendors, preparing materials for trial/arbitration/mediation, and performing intake with potential clients. Provide secretarial support to three lawyers. Edit, format, and proofread legal documents and judicial council forms. Maintain attorneys calendars via Clio. Welcome clients and conduct initial screenings of new clients. Organize all legal documents and ensure they are updated in the electronic file. eFiling and service of legal documents. Ensure all court documents are in order and filed before deadlines. Answer emails and phone calls, and when necessary, redirect calls. Research and authenticate important case information. Prepare different legal documents including real estate documents, appeals, motions, and petitions. Transcription of dictation. Prepare correspondence. Willingness to make occasional small trips around town to Court, Recorder's Office, or Sheriff's Office, etc. High school diploma or equivalent qualification required. 3 years experience in a similar role. In-depth knowledge of legal documents and terminology. Familiarity with eFiling in CA Superior Courts and Federal court. (Odyssey and PACER). Experience with propounding and responding to discovery. Must have proficient skills using Microsoft Word and Outlook. (ability to format a table of authorities and table of contents is a must. Excellent time-management and organizational skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Tech savvy preferred. Experience using Clio, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Essential Forms, Excel preferred. Knowledge of Santa Cruz Superior and Santa Clara Superior Court procedures is a huge plus. Notary Public Commission preferred.
