Managing Attorney The candidate will ensure that all staff members follow proper procedure for their work responsibilities and that the staff members are working efficiently. Will ensure that the work responsibilities of staff members are equally distributed and that no staff member is over-burdened with work. If a staff member is over-burdened and directly relative to the time sensitivity of their work responsibilities, reshuffle the responsibilities of the various staff members to provide the necessary assistance. Enforce firm Policies and Procedures including such policies as the use of cell phones and 15 minute break allowances. Responsible for active inventory management through the utilization of reports to ensure proper account flow and promptly identify issues for remedy. Supervise the services provided by Vendors (local counsel and process servers) to ensure said services are being made in a timely, efficient, and proper manner. Responsible for the prompt administration of conflict resolution under the guidance and expectation of both the Human Resources Director and the AVP of Litigation Operations. When permission is granted by the AVP of Litigation Operation for the hiring of a new staff member, actively participate in the interview process of the new candidate(s). Ensure that the New Hire Package is properly completed by the new staff member. Ensure that the new staff member is trained and oriented about the office policies, procedures and equipment. Even after initial training, continue in a mentor role to all staff members to ensure that they are working efficiently and productively. Train and mentor all Associate Attorneys in litigation strategy, pleading drafting, work place efficiency, firm Policies/Procedures. Ensure that the personnel files of each employee are current. Provide staff members at appropriate employment milestone all employee benefit participation paperwork and forward same to Human Resources if participation is requested. Handle any modification requests by staff members concerning their personnel file, payroll records, or benefit packages timely. Report directly to the AVP of Litigation Operations. Have an open-line of communication with AVP of Litigation Operations. Provide input to the AVP of Litigation Operations concerning his evaluation of the performance of employees on a regular basis. Bring all potential issues with staff or their work product to the attention of the AVP of Litigation Operations. Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by the AVP of Litigation Operations.In addition to the Office Manager where applicable, is responsible for ordering office supplies for the branch office. In the event additional computer equipment is needed, this request would be made to the AVP of Litigation Operations. Be knowledgeable of how to utilize any maintenance contracts we may have on such office equipment as the copier and postage machine. Should be a licensed attorney in an active and good standing status in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Must be an experience litigator of 3+ years. Creditor rights experience preferred. Should have management experience. Must be cross-trained on all litigation assistant job responsibilities.
