Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant The paralegal will work directly with our attorneys to prepare for upcoming cases. Some of the duties for this position are: Review original client documents and contracts for privilege. Organize and maintain files and litigation binders in preparation for mediation. Obtain and review property title reports. Prepare Case Management Order/service, homeowner, subcontractor insurance, and scope of work matrices. Research status of contractors licenses and agent for service of process. Prepare and serve discovery documents and subpoenas. Review medical records for compliance. Prepare trial exhibit lists. Summarize deposition testimony transcripts. Maintaining an index system for case files. An Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies is required(Bachelor's degree is preferred). Should have 2 years civil litigation experience. Must have excellent communication and organization abilities. Paralegal - Commercial Litigation Responsibilities: Manage large litigation matters from inception through trial. Must have at-trial experience and experience using trial presentation software. Draft disclosures, discovery, and other legal documents for attorney review. Prepare exhibits for attorney use at depositions and as attachments to motions. Maintain witness files. Communicate with investigators, expert witnesses, counsel, and clients about obtaining discovery and other case related issues. Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree and certificate from well-accredited paralegal training program required. Must have 5+ years complex litigation experience. Significant litigation experience may substitute for the paralegal certificate. Experience with eDiscovery and eDiscovery review platforms is a must. Substantive knowledge of the litigation process and rules of procedure. Ability to manage and review large document collections using a database, such as Relativity or other similar program. Ability to analyze and summarize case information and evidence for attorney review. Ability to perform substantive research. Strong work ethic and ability to self-start. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while delivering consistent, quality work-product to both attorneys and clients. Able to adjust to multiple demands in a fast paced environment. Litigation Paralegal The candidate will work under the direction of attorneys to whom the Paralegal is assigned. Will researche law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys. Independently researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals for review, approval, and use by attorney. Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters. Summarizes complex legal documents. Organizes and indexes complex case files. Determines and calendars deadlines. Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision. Files pleadings with court clerk. Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations and complaints. Drafts a wide variety of legal documents. Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file. Prepares for mediations and trials. Assists Attorney at trial and in preparation for depositions. Communicates with witnesses and experts. Scheduling. Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner. The candidate must have 12+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice. Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university is required. Must have experience with trial preparation software, including Trial Director and Sanction. Experience in preparing attorneys for trials, arbitrations and mediations with little or no supervision is required. Must have experience with at-trial participation to assist attorneys during trial proceedings. Must have experience preparing subpoenas (including calculation of all deadlines) and privilege logs. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Lexis-Nexis, WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems is required.
