Litigation Paralegal Duties: Proactively assisting attorneys with all aspects of the litigation process from case inception through trial and the appeal process. Taking responsibility for overall case file maintenance, including requesting, summarizing, and maintaining records. Electronic case filing systems in federal and state courts. Assisting attorneys with all phases of discovery (including electronic discovery), including first draft responses to discovery as directed. Managing and organizing large volumes of documents including hard copy and electronic files. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program is required. 3-5 years of applicable litigation experience required. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills. Previous experience performing the following tasks: drafting correspondence and discovery; assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediation, trial; document management; knowledge of court rules; proficiency in e-filing (state and federal); calendaring and docketing; and research skills. Experience with electronic document review platforms such as Summation, Concordance, and Relativity, including key word searching and assistance in production coordination. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Case Map, ShareFile, Nuance, TrialPad and TrialDirector. Litigation Paralegal Duties: Assist with preparation of pleadings and discovery in federal and state court matters, and arbitration proceedings. Assist with preparation of federal and state administrative filings. Draft motions, pleadings, notices, correspondence, etc. Analyze, review and organize documents and data from materials produced during discovery; and, prepare/coordinate document production and responses to discovery requests. Prepare deposition and record subpoenas according to state and federal regulations; coordinate production of third-party records and summarize same; prepare deposition outlines and summaries. Analyze and review privileged documents. Trial and arbitration preparation; preparation and management of trial exhibits and other trial related assistance. Presentation of case summaries and courses of action to supervising attorneys. Conducting limited legal research, including but not limited to, Lexis and Pacer research. Cite-checking and shepardizing when necessary. Liaison with courts, opposing counsel, and litigation vendors, including process servers and couriers. Knowledge of developments, procedures and rules in the forums where the office practices. Demonstrate basic strategic thinking and initiative with case assignments. Awareness of calendar deadlines. Responsible for personal billable time entries. Address client case status inquiries, including steps in process remaining, processing times, and appointment issues. Requirements: Associate Degree required, Bachelor s Degree preferred. ABA Paralegal Certificate required. 3+ years' litigation paralegal experience. Preferably in employment law. Proficiency in Windows environment including Word and Outlook (Excel a plus). Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedures. Knowledge of EEOC procedures a plus. Knowledge of billing and document management software - Intapp and Netdocs a plus. Experience with class-actions, and wage and hour productions a plus. Versed in trial preparation a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Highly client focused as the position requires strong customer service skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of people and personalities. Strong interpersonal skills, detail orientated with exceptional analytical skills. Reliability, teamwork, professionalism, and the ability to multi-task are essential.
