Immigration Paralegal I Duties: Assists the Senior Paralegals and Attorneys with the management of corporate immigration cases and client interactions. Includes a variety of duties related to legal document preparation and management, research and case management which requires knowledge of the legal system, terminology and procedures in addition to clerical and administrative skills. Prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency; begin to achieve a mastery of case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Responsible for working with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions. Run reports to assist in managing one s own caseload. Assisting with the review of billing protocols and ensure that billing guidelines are met. Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Provide company contacts with training and guidance regarding systems and general immigration matters. Engage in frequent contact with company client(s). Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Works with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications. Drafts support statements and organizes documentations for filling Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times, etc. Initiates contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate. 1 year of corporate immigration experience required. Strong preference for a writing based Bachelors (English Language, Journalism etc). Ability to excel within an extremely high volume environment Ability to make sound judgment calls. Ability to work well with minimal supervision. Ability to catch errors and correct the work of others Superior client service skills. Ability to prioritize cases, manage caseload and other tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.). Ability to meet deadlines and goals. Demonstrate ability to manage a high caseload and work within strict timelines. Demonstrate mastery of multiple case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice area(s). Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc. Initiates contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alerts Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree; 1-year law-related experience under licensed attorney; or, PL certificate from ABA approved program. 1 3 years' U.S. corporate immigration experience. Ability to excel within an extremely high volume environment. Ability to make sound judgement calls. Ability to work well with minimal supervision. Ability to catch errors and correct the work of others. Superior client service skills. Ability to prioritize cases, manager caseload and other tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.). Ability to meet deadline and goals.
