Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency Attorney Duties: Manage a caseload of juvenile court matters, including delinquency, dependency, and termination of parental rights cases, representing minors charged with criminal conduct and parents and children involved in the child welfare system. Exercising good judgement and effectuating the best result for each client based on the facts of each case and the wishes of the client.Vigorous motion practice, thorough investigation and research. Produce accurate well researched memoranda for trial and motion practice. Exploring alternative dispositions. Advises client appropriately regarding dispositional outcomes and alternatives. Pursuing ongoing education and training in field and related topics by attending Continuing Legal Education programs. Active bar members shall complete 45+ credit hours every three years. 6 the required hours shall be in subjects relating to ethics, including one hour on the subject of a lawyer s statutory duty to report child abuse or elder abuse. In alternate reporting periods, 3+ of the required hours must be in programs accredited for access to justice pursuant to Rule 5.5(b). Keep informed of current changes in juvenile law and related fields by reading monthly Oregon Advance Sheet. Use resource materials appropriately. Effectively organizing time to maximize effectiveness for clients and the firm. Accurately maintains clients electronic files, attorney emails, personal calendar, etc. Maintains appropriately documented client e-files. Effectively works with firm attorneys and legal assistants, as well as attorneys at other juvenile firms and the district attorneys office. Providing coverage for other attorneys cases when requested. Qualifications: JD Degree. Be in good standing and admitted to practice in Oregon. Experience handling dependency and delinquency cases. Juvenile or criminal trial practice. Ability to work collaboratively, independently and to build and strengthen community partnerships. Reliable transportation to travel between Multnomah County Courthouses, Multnomah County DHS branches, treatment facilities, and residential homes. Preferred Experience: Felony Qualified, with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience. Termination of Parental Rights Qualified, with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience. Education law or background. Monitor and track all due dates daily, distribute mail to the responsible attorney for actions, conduct or assist in conducting legal research. Find relevant cases, law review articles and statutes, and prepare memoranda analyzing research results. Continuing legal education due to changes to U.S. and foreign trademark procedures. A Bachelor's degree is required, and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved training program is preferable. Will have significant substantive working knowledge of USPTO and Madrid Protocol and foreign filing requirements; considerable experience in foreign and domestic trademark prosecution and maintenance. Should have proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, docketing systems and/or other automated control databases, (LEXIS, Westlaw,) and database retrieval systems.
