Immigration Paralegal The candidate will prepare legal documents, including forms, letters, and exhibits as needed for immigration filings. Manage case files and documents. Maintain positive relations with clients through regular written and oral communication. Prepare drafts and perform document revisions. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of document management system(s) needed. Paralegal Certificate preferred. At least one(1) year of experience in Immigration, preferably in Employment-based Immigration, including but not limited to non-immigrant (H-1B, L-1, TN) and immigrant (PERM, I-140, I-485) cases, naturalization filings, and immigration case management. Paralegal / Administrator Supervisor - Intellectual Property The candidate will provide IP Administrators periodic feedback on their performance, including suggestions for professional development or performance improvement. Coordinate workflow, manage distribution of work, establish priorities and assign projects as needed for IP Administrators. Establish and implement standard operating procedures for IP Administrators by developing manuals, guidelines, training programs, and best practices. Coordinate performance and evaluation processes for IP Administrators with HR and PGM. Consult with attorneys to ensure the effective use of IP Administrators. Conduct regular meetings with IP Administrators to address issues, concerns and needs. Monitor attendance, overtime, daily schedules, work-from-home days, and paid time off to ensure staffing needs are being met. Participate in the recruiting process for IP Administrators and coordinate orientation and training of new employees. Meet with new IP timekeepers to provide an overview of the IP Administrator support functions. Ensure firm policies are practiced and followed and encourage open dialog, maintaining an "open door" policy. Stay aware of updates to laws, regulations and fees related to IP prosecution in the U.S. and globally. Be present in all offices on a regular basis. Maintain billable workload, filings and docketing responsibilities to the extent clients are maintained. Coordinate with Docketing Manager on client intake and transfers out. Experience communicating with clients and foreign associate contacts is essential. Prove experience with learning, evaluating and implementing technology and software solutions to improve workflow and process is essential. Must have 10+ years of related Intellectual Property experience and 3+ years of supervising and leading both local and virtual teams. Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred. Trademark Paralegal Duties: Prepare U.S. applications; verify current ownership, class (es) and goods/services; prepare specimen; report new application filing to client. Prepare Office Action for online response. Prepare specimens for filing; verify current ownership, class (es) and goods/services; prepare 8 & 15 Affidavits, renewals and Statements of Use for filing with USPTO. Prepare all powers of attorney, assignments, legalized docs; prepare all correspondence back and forth between client and foreign associate regarding these formality docs. Prepare status letters to foreign associates regarding yearly status or formalities. Check TARR status on U.S. pending applications, oppositions and appeals. Prepare status reports for applicable clients for attorneys (patents and/or trademarks). Maintain and oversee Milwaukee office trademark docket. Ensure all deadlines are completed in a timely manner. Follow up on all trademark matters that are in the other offices for Milwaukee office attorneys. Responsible for all state and U.S. filings and prosecution of trademark applications. Responsible for maintaining of opposition proceedings in the office. Prepare and file U.S. District Court filings at the direction of the working attorney and maintain prosecution binders for same. Qualifications: A bachelors degree is required. Experience in all phases of U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution including a thorough knowledge of the U.S. PTO procedure requirements, time lines, rules and practice along with a general understanding of trademark docketing procedures is highly desirable. Excellent written, oral and e-mail communication skills. Ability to problem-solve and make practical decisions. Must be self-starter with the ability to work independently. Must take initiative and be comfortable working in a deadline driven environment. Ability to prioritize and handle/complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
