Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Copying and putting together exhibits and witness binders in preparation for trial; Preparing spreadsheets and presentations using MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, as well as using Relativity in connection with e-discovery; Communicating, both orally and in writing, with clients, court reporters, and internal personnel; Coordination of service of subpoenas, and regular follow up with the non-parties served to insure responsive documents are timely returned, as well as coordination of insuring that all invoices are paid Monitoring attorneys calendar, entering time, arranging for court reporters, videographers, translators, conference rooms, client meetings and scheduling meetings, appointments, depositions, and coordinating and making travel arrangements Opening, maintaining, organizing and filing on a consistent basis the internal files pertaining to particular clients and matters; Creating, formatting, and using MS Word to prepare and edit letters, memoranda, briefs, pleadings, agreements, contracts, and other legal documents from forms, original handwritten materials or dictation; and Generating and preparing Table of Contents and Table of Authorities for legal filings. Qualifications: BA/BS degree required. A litigation paralegal who is client focused and has Labor & Employment experience in the financial industry. Must have trial experience. Extremely organized, ability to multi-task, prioritize and pay close attention to all detail, comfortable working under extreme deadlines, ability to be flexible, work under tense circumstances, and ability to remain calm and composed. Must be willing to work overtime. Ability to be a team player, work independently, strong reading and writing skills. Exceptional knowledge and experience in working with PowerPoint, Excel, MS Word 2010, and other Microsoft applications. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment with competing demands, while working closely in a team with others within the Labor & Employment group. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to produce quality work in a high volume practice, meet assigned deadlines, and communicate progress of cases, status and issues to clients, as well as assigned attorneys and client services managers within the group. Trademark Paralegal The candidate should have preferably experience as a Trademark Paralegal/Legal Secretary for a position in its New York Office. Prior experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate. Must have experience with US and foreign trademark filings, assignment recordals, renewals and knowledge of local trademark laws and requirements. Must be able to effectively communicate with clients and local counsel regarding trademark matters. Litigation Paralegal Duties: Participates as a team member and assists attorneys, senior paralegals and litigation technology professionals in various litigation matters by playing a key role in the work required to support the firm's clients. Provides support to case teams in all aspects of litigation support, through trial and the appeal process. Manages and utilizes automated litigation support tools. Coordinates and manages paper and electronic document collections, reviews and productions. Understands and utilizes rudimentary e-discovery and computer forensic concepts, such as, preservation of data and chain of custody. Creates, implements and maintains organizational systems for discovery phase of litigation, including, but not limited to, document collection review and production tracking logs, privilege logs, deposition material, and exhibit logs. Assembles exhibits and appendices for court papers, depositions and trials. Creates, implements and maintains case file and workroom organizational systems. Prepares for and attends depositions, hearings, trials and arbitrations. Understands database concepts and terminology. Assists and coordinates automated litigation support projects through utilization of technology, including, but not limited to, database management software (web repository or in-house) and Case Notebook. Analyzes and reviews various documents as required by lawyers .Prepares documents, such as statistical charts and graphs. Performs litigation due diligence searches, obtains docket sheets and other court papers utilizing electronic tools. Utilizes legal research software such as Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis for case retrieval and citation reference. Communicates, corresponds and interacts with clients and outside entities, such as government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations and other law firms to gather information or data. Complies with department and firm administrative procedures, policies and best practices. Assists with department projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Paralegal Manager. Responsible for billing a minimum of 1600 hours of client-related projects and other credited work. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, 2+ years solid litigation experience and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the litigation process and e-discovery. The position involves significant contact with lawyers, paralegals and litigation technology professionals and requires strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. The paralegal must be a self-starter, highly organized and a team player. Able to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal and personnel affairs and client information. Understands ethics of position including ethical rules in regards to confidentiality, billing, and client representation and advocacy. Able to interact effectively and professionally with clients and all levels of personnel, including attorneys, co-workers and administrators. Able to be a proactive, self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context. Able to own professional development by seeking out feedback and learning new skills. Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; able to work under tight deadlines. Able to plan, organize and complete multiple related activities.
