Litigation Paralegal Duties: Organization of documents and coordination of document productions. Preparing of witness and matter materials for case preparation. This could include organizing interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation. Under attorney supervision, gather and prepare documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding. Pull relevant documents, proofread papers, organize exhibits and create document indices in the preparation of motion filing. Work with attorneys in the preparation and filing of all court documents. Create, bind and distribute both file and courtesy copies. Organize the briefs, exhibits and appendices. Organize exhibits, files and all other supporting documents, coordinate trial set-up and logistics, assist attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes, handling exhibits, and marking documents referred to by counsel, assist in the preparation of witness testimony and serve as liaison between trial attorneys and in-house staff. This could include, bates-stamping, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents. Set up and maintain files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts. Conducting document searches and factual research. Qualifications: 3-5 years of product liability experience (preferably in the automotive industry), self-motivation, strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to assist in the management of a complex caseload while being an effective team player. Utilize online ECF filing system on both state and federal court levels. Preparation and service of various legal documents, i.e. subpoenas, discovery requests motions, etc., and execute follow-up regarding service and filing of documents. Travel to court to file documents, attend hearings or assist at trial. Proofread and assemble motions and accompanying exhibits. Review, download, profile and distribute case notifications received electronically. Communicate with clients, vendors, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, local counsel and counsel for co-defendants as needed. Accurately record and maintain billable hours. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred. 2-4 years of defense litigation experience. Experience reviewing medical and technical records plus. Asbestos litigation experience a plus. Nursing or other health care background helpful. should have experience with case management to support the Mass Tort and Medical Life Science groups as well as general liability and construction related negligence and product liability litigation. Military experience a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required. Experience utilizing SharePoint, e-discovery platforms and trial technology tools a plus. Must exhibit well-developed interpersonal and client relation skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Must exhibit initiative and problem solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Must be able to effectively multi-task, meet deadlines and excel in a team atmosphere.
