Nurse Paralegal Duties: Under the direction and supervision of attorneys, paralegals are expected to provide advanced, complex assistance in support of client case teams. Draft correspondence, memoranda or pleadings. Perform investigative and background research, including witness location, and cases/legal authority gathering. Create and maintain databases of documents and information. Review and analyze documents, data, and depositions as required by team attorneys and/or clients. Assist at and in preparation for depositions of fact and expert witnesses. Coordinate preparation of motions and briefs including proofreading, cite-checking (if applicable), assembly of exhibits, filing and service. Assist with preparation for trial including gathering documents to be used as trial exhibits, preparation of witness binders, deposition designations, review and . organization of materials for use by team attorneys, preparation of electronic presentations, and coordination with litigation support personnel. Organize work rooms. Liaise with internal firm departments and outside sources to gather information and data. Provide proactive management of large toxic tort cases, including coordination of support efforts and preparing for upcoming events. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor s Degree or paralegal certificate required. 5+ years of paralegal or other relevant experience. Nursing or medical background preferred, or equivalent experience with toxic tort and/or complex product liability cases Demonstrates proficiency, skills and knowledge of the position as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and development. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills, and outstanding organizational skills. Possesses hands-on experience or training with ESI tools and general knowledge of E-Discovery procedures and resources. Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc. Initiates contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alerts Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems. The candidate should have at least a Bachelor s Degree. 1 3 yrs. U.S. corporate immigration experience. 1-year law-related experience under licensed attorney; or, PL certificate from ABA approved program. Comfortable and ability to thrive in an extremely high volume environment. Demonstrates sound judgement. Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others. Superior client service skills. Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload and other assigned tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.). Ability to meet deadline and goals.
