Senior Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for document organization and production, including number-stamping, redacting, photocopying, indexing of documents, and checking copies. Retrieves documents as requested by attorneys. E-Files court documents according to appropriate jurisdictional guidelines. Reviews transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding. Reviews and analyzes documents for production, under the guidance of an attorney. Categorizes documents by subject, prepares a chronology of facts, creates charts, and formulates calculations and statistical analyses. Coordinates the e-discovery process by interfacing with vendors and aids in selection of same, managing databases, assisting attorneys with field selection and key search terms. Prepares for depositions, gathers documents relevant to the deponent, and organizes exhibits. Keeps work organized by setting up and maintaining files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, inputting information into file database and case management software and then confirming status with attorney. Organizes documents for review. Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, newspapers, libraries, libraries, legal codes, etc. Conducts document searches and factual research, including searches on computerized systems when applicable. Retrieves, reviews and monitors online court dockets for active cases. Acts as liaison with various employees in order to oversee the progress of documents through secretarial and duplicating assistance, orders transcripts from reporting services and fulfills requests from outside counsel and others. Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents. Prepares for trial and/or court proceedings. Organizes exhibits, files and all other supporting documents for trial and/ or court proceedings. Arranges transportation and setting up of files at court. Responsible for tracking and recording billable time. Works overtime when required and/or requested. Travels when assigned. Senior Litigation Paralegal Duties: Under the general direction of supervising attorney(s) and according to established Firm policies and procedures, responsible for providing paralegal support and assistance to attorneys in the coordination, management, and supervision of all aspects of complex litigation. May require client contact. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters. Organize and maintain documentation for complex case management matters. Advise attorneys of status dates and changes. Coordinate and make recommendations for case staffing. Draft subpoenas and arrange for services of process. Coordinate document retrieval under the supervision of the supervising attorneys. Maintain familiarity with key witness files. Assist in the preparation of documents for trial. Assist attorneys with complex caseload research, subject and topic research, and briefing of court cases. Determine and maintain electronic database needs for large case management; monitor databases. Summarize depositions, arbitration transcripts, briefs, etc. Prepare draft responses to pleadings, interrogatories, and requests for admissions for discovery matters. Coordinate the set-up of electronic media for trial purposes. Maintain up-to-date time reports to ensure accurate client billing. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years progressive work experience in the litigation practice area preferably in a law firm environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) procedures is required. Legal research knowledge and ability to use law library are required. Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited paralegal program a plus. Must have litigation experience from discovery phase through actual trial, as well as, experience handling numerous litigation suits at the same time. Must have substantive Federal criminal discovery experience, with extensive working knowledge in this area of law. Must have advanced cite checking skills in order to support attorneys with legal documents. Must have applicable knowledge of the principles of judicial and administrative processes and filing requirements, and experience working with methods of legal research, court rules and procedures, litigation terminology and documentation, docketing procedures, and bates numbering. Computer proficient with experience and working knowledge of Westlaw and other litigation-related databases and litigation support software (including advanced working knowledge of Concordance, Relativity, TextMap), including, but not limited to, running and monitoring complex electronic document productions, Internet research, due diligence, Excel, Outlook, and MS Word preferred. Exhibit high degree of initiative with excellent analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic in order to analyze and research litigation-related data, process information, conduct legal research, and perform essential duties. Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e A A?mail, or verbally.
