Entry Level Litigation Paralegal Duties: Assist attorneys in the practice of law. Will have exposure primarily as it relates to all phases of the IP litigation process including; pre-trial research, discovery, Markman, mediation and trial. Track Case related docketing of appearances and deadlines. Manage complex ITC, Federal, Superior and Appellate court cases. Manage paper & electronic discovery, including organization of depositions, exhibits and document productions. Create, maintain, manage and search electronic databases. Assist with document retrieval from courts. Prepare electronic/paper court filings, including legal cite-checking and compilation of exhibits and appendices. Assist with Trial preparation and attendance, which may include preparation and management of trial exhibits, trial notebooks, expert witness binders, courtroom and war room setup (may require travel, including out of state). Participate in Litigation related factual and legal research. Draft correspondence, basic pleadings, motions and privilege logs. Assist fellow paralegals within group. Meet an annual billing goal of 1400 hours. Complete tasks/projects/other responsibilities as firm needs dictate, including pro bono and client development projects. QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required. 0-3 years' experience as a paralegal, with basic understanding of the litigation process. Good written and oral communication skills. Detail oriented with good organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in fast passed team environment. Ability to be flexible in work schedule. Ability to work with and take direction from more senior litigation paralegals. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general database knowledge is highly preferred. Legal Secretary The candidate will provide high-level support to four attorneys. Will also support additional attorneys in a well-balanced assignment which will provide variety and a great opportunity to work with a terrific team at a wonderful law firm. Types, edits, files and may compose correspondence, including letters, memoranda, pleadings, and other documents. Transcribes from tapes and/or handwritten documents. E-files documents with state and federal courts. Updates and maintains databases (i.e. e-mail lists, I-Create info, client matter lists). Records court dates, deposition dates, etc. on daily calendar. Screens telephone calls and/or takes messages when needed. Opens, reads, and sorts all incoming mail. Opens new files, checks conflicts of interest, maintains all client and general files. Greets clients and visitors; maintains professional appearance and attitude; maintains good public relations and customer service with clients; maintains confidentiality of attorney-client relationship. Makes appointments and travel arrangements; processes expense reimbursements; and maintains calendar and deadline reminder system. Communicates with administrative support by apprising of deadlines, attorney travel plans, etc. Ensures attorney timesheets are completed. Ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience as a legal secretary in litigation; working knowledge and experience in e-filing in both state and federal court systems; strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail; strong communications, interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with management, staff and external entities including clients of the firm. This individual must have a minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute, be proficient in and have knowledge of relevant software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook); must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality; and consistently produce high-quality work product.
