Senior Accountant, Attorney Compensation Duties: Calculate and communicate monthly Senior Counsel compensation payments to payroll. Prepare and distribute monthly schedules detailing compensation calculations to individual Senior Counsel. Analyze total Senior Counsel compensation payments and working attorney collections (WAC) against current agreements. Maintain and organize all Senior Counsel agreement documentation and memo communications. Calculate Partner compensation changes and prepare memos to effectively communicate these updates. Communicate and verify Partner draw changes to HRIS and payroll to update systems. Reconcile retained earnings and capital general ledger accounts. Prepare and post individual Partner capital account activity memos on an annual basis.. Manage and reconcile Retiree, Senior Counsel, and Partner compensation general ledger accounts and prepare annual detailed budgets. This includes, but is not limited to, working with management of the firm in preparation of budgets and preparing budget variance analyses. Process miscellaneous wires and semi-monthly foreign payroll wires. Calculate and process final payments for terminated income partners. Prepare annual journal entry to close capital partner draws to retained earnings.. Manage comfort letter process for Partner capital loans. Manage annual Partner capital contribution process. Provide backup coverage on the treasury. Requirements: Bachelor's degree. 5+ years of relevant work experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Attorney Development and Recruiting Manager Duties: Coordinates and oversees department projects, day-to-day operations and executes long-range plans. Discusses strategic (i.e., long-range) planning with the New York office by developing departmental goals and supporting objectives for department. Oversees all programs involving attorney recruiting (recruiting of summer associates, lateral attorneys, entry-level associates and judicial clerks). Oversees on-campus recruitment process and supervises department staff in the scheduling of interviews, coordinating on-campus meetings, and conducting office tours. Oversees the preparation of Hiring Committee meeting materials and hiring statistics for the Hiring Committee. Travels to campus recruiting events as needed. Supports the senior Chicago Attorney Development & Recruiting staff as the main point of contact for both lateral associate candidates and search firms throughout recruitment process. Manages logistics involved with summer associate arrivals, events planning, training, assignment process, evaluations, and summer hiring meetings. Oversees attorney orientation, training and development, and evaluation program for summer associates, associates, and counsel. Partners with New York office on the implementation and oversight of attorney development and training programs. Plans and coordinates office/Firm-wide attorney events in partnership with Conference Services. Attends summer associate events and other Firm-sponsored recruiting events throughout the year. Assists the Chicago Diversity & Inclusion Manager on diversity & inclusion and women s initiatives. Supports the Chicago Diversity & Inclusion Manager with assigned Firm-sponsored attorney affinity networks, including assisting as needed on the implementation of programming and initiatives as set forth in the affinity networks annual plans. Works with the Chicago Attorney Development staff, the New York office, and Professional Development Managers to ensure timely completion of attorney evaluations on an annual basis. Oversees CLE accreditation for internal and external courses in partnership with the Chicago Attorney Development & Recruiting staff and the Marketing Department. Partners with the New York office to effectively resolve work-related problems and/or conflicts that arise within the practice groups. Ensures current knowledge of firm policies and practices for staff, current knowledge of industry trends, and continued professional development for staff. Participates in the interviewing, selection and training process of staff. Supports the senior Chicago Attorney Development & Recruiting staff in monitoring time, attendance, overtime, and expense reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm policies. Effectively utilizes the Firm s performance management process to communicate performance expectations, monitor performance, coach employees, and manage unsatisfactory performance. Oversees employees work performance and provides guidance in the resolution of problems. Initiates disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
