Performs legal research including statutory and case law and drafts forms, research memoranda, proposed rules, orders and other documents. Prepare summaries of depositions and court transcripts and witness testimony. The candidate should preferably have completion of an approved paralegal program. 2+ years experience as a paralegal is desired. Accomplished computer keyboarding skills is required. Knowledge of attorney client relationships applicable to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position is needed. Pre-Litigation Paralegal/Case Manager Responsibilities : The candidate will be an effective liaison between the Firm s attorneys and clients. Support clients by explaining the processes, time lines and reasonable expectations. Manage assigned cases through the pre-litigation that includes to conduct initial client interviews, insure clients have access to proper medical treatment, insure client has or is in the process of completing property damage claim, review ongoing case correspondence, identify coverage limits for at fault tort-feasor to insure sufficient coverage, identify all other available coverages including UM, UIM and PIP, manage client files and maintain proper documentation, monitor case progress and promptly notify attorneys of any changes or updates that could potentially impact clients benefits and or awards. Assist in early identification of high value or potential cases for litigation. Manage the collection of and review medical records and bills to validate accuracy of service provided. Prepare and send initial demand packages using firm guidelines. Monitor demand timelines to insure timely results and movement on client cases. Review, evaluate and negotiate pre-suit personal injury cases with Insurance Adjusters under the direction of an attorney. Proactively keep attorneys informed of progress on negotiations to insure timely pre-suit resolution or litigation of cases. Facilitate the closing process with clients whose cases settle in pre-litigation that include collection of and negotiation of final medical expense and lien pay-offs. Prepare final settlement statements, meet with client and attorney to sign final closing documents. Qualifications : The candidate should have 2-3 years experience in a fast-paced PI law practice required. Preferably have previous experience as an auto insurance claims adjuster. Should preferably have Bachelors degree. Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Should have knowledge of civil litigation procedures. Must have ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced office environment. Should have strong time management skills. Should have knowledge of auto insurance coverage to include: PIP, BI and UM. Should have ability to negotiate and build strong business to business relationships. Help coordinate workflow and reminders for attorneys. As needed, work with Shareholder in charge of the office and/or Associate attorneys and staff in other firm offices. Issue building identification and office keys. Maintain personnel directory. Acts as Liaison between firm and landlord regarding any facilities projects, maintenance requests, or issues. Acts as safety coordinator and trains employees on emergency procedures. Coordinates orders from main office facilities group and makes sure office is well-stocked with office supplies, kitchen supplies and marketing materials. The candidate must have 3-5 years of experience. Should preferably have Bachelor's degree. Should be able to demonstrate working knowledge of litigation, proficiency with transcription, attention to detail, and competency with procedural rules in federal and state courts.
