Family Law Paralegal Duties: Managing attorney dockets to ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner; Reviewing files and conferring with attorneys to discuss the status of the file as well as upcoming deadlines; Assisting attorneys with preparing for client meetings, pre-trial and motions hearings, trial, etc.; Drafting client correspondence; Maintaining client files; Communicating with clients on a very regular basis; Conducting legal research and drafting letters, briefs, memorandums, and other legal documents; Efficiently providing top-notch legal products and superior service to clients; Drafting and reviewing written discovery including e-discovery; Covering the front desk and phones when necessary to ensure that clients and other office visitors receive prompt and professional service; Maintaining a well-respected reputation amongst clients, opposing counsel, Judges, Court staff, and colleagues; and, All other duties as assigned. Requirements: High School Degree or equivalent; 2 years' experience required; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong analytical and organizational skills; Ability to work with and take direction from multiple individuals; Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills; Excellent proofreading skills, including attention to detail; Ability to problem solve and use sound judgment in dealing with highly confidential information; Ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced environment that places a high premium on accuracy, excellence, and execution; Ability to work independently when necessary; Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time while meeting critical deadlines; Ability to use commonly-used computer software; Willingness and ability to learn other computer software (including, but not limited to scheduling software); Common sense, great judgment, and a positive and willing attitude; Must be a team player who enjoys working with and supporting the other attorneys and employees in the firm; Must have a strong work ethic with and a thorough understanding of what is required to be successful in a client-service industry; and, A desire to be part of a growing legal practice that takes pride in making the legal system uncomplicated, approachable, and accessible to everyone. Preferred Qualifications: Fluent in Spanish; College degree, with a strong preference for applicants with paralegal certification.
