This small firm has certainly survived the test of time: With attorneys in several cities, these lawyers are multi-taskers, and are willing to bounce from practice group to practice group in order to provide quality service for their largely regional clientele, although it is their real estate practice that truly excels!
Litigation Paralegal The candidate will perform a range of substantive case related duties to support this and to a lesser extent other practice groups. Will prepare legal documents like subpoenas, notices of deposition, witness lists, answers, proposed orders, and the like. Draft correspondence to health care providers and other counsel for attorney review. Compile, analyze and summarize medical bills, lien amounts, insurance write-offs, and other data from a variety of sources. Responsible for managing discovery documents in an organized fashion, retrieval of same for attorney use in deposition and at trial, and for systematic production to documents to other parties. Facilitate review of pending lawsuits by expert witnesses. Coordinate efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties and outside vendors. Assist attorneys in obtaining and organizing medical records and bills, producing same to opposing counsel, and preparing exhibits for motions and other pleadings. Prepare witness files by insuring all relevant documents are obtained and filed; schedules depositions and ensures witnesses receive relevant documents to review prior to deposition. Assist with creation of organizational databases to track subpoenas, experts, medical bills, and liens. Prepare documents for production to other counsel. Perform research into prescriptions, expert backgrounds, various health conditions, and other issues as indicated; compiles, analyzes, and presents findings for attorney assessment; obtains information/documents from various courts, government agencies, libraries, and other outside resources. Draft standard procedural pleadings like subpoenas, deposition notices, answers, proposed orders, etc. Index and summarize documents and depositions. E-filing pleadings and filing paper pleadings with courts lacking electronic filings, including mailing service copies. Set up and organizes new files; indexes records; prepares summaries of same. Manage medical record acquisition including preparing, filing, serving and following up on subpoenas. Perform research on expert witnesses; utilizes defense database services; maintains expert witness data bank; receives and responds to requests pertaining to expert witnesses. Assist in drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admissions.
