Associate Attorney, Litigation Duties: Provide legal services to municipal clients with an emphasis on litigation, appellate advocacy, administrative law, eminent domain, and code enforcement. Advocate on behalf of municipal clients in state, county and federal courts. Act as litigation counsel for municipalities as either plaintiffs or defendants. Advise clients regarding contract disputes, personnel matters, eminent domain, and enforcement of regulations. Advocate on behalf of city officials on issues of Temporary Restraining Orders, Temporary Injunctions, Mandamus actions, and other proceedings. Represent municipalities before the State Office of Hearings Examiners and related agencies in administrative matters. Handle appeals. Serve as Municipal Court Prosecutor. Will practice in the field of Municipal Law to include the following areas of law: annexation; budget & fiscal management; economic development; elections & voting rights; ethics & professionalism; land use & development; law enforcement & municipal court; legislative consulting & advocacy; open meetings & open records; personnel & employment matters; procurement & construction projects; real estate transactions; utilities & telecommunications; water, wastewater & the environment. Requirements: Member of the State Bar of Texas. 3+ years of relevant legal experience. Experience before state, county and federal courts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work without close supervision and to independently produce error-free documents. Preferences: Demonstrated experience in Municipal Law, State or Local Government Law (Public Law or Administrative Law). Independent and self-motivating. Organized, dependable and steady. Capable of transitioning between numerous clients on multiple subjects daily. Innovative and resourceful problem-solver. Excellent communicator (oral and written). Committed to public interest / government-related law. Suited for private practice, including ability to generate billable hours. Current Texas Bar Card, with a license in good standing.
