Paralegal Duties: Provides high level support to assigned attorneys on all aspects of assigned litigation files, focused mainly on managing and advancing the discovery aspects of assigned files. Provide support to designated attorneys and must be fully familiar with the facts, allegations and legal issues of their assigned files. Draft pleadings & motions, draft discovery requests & responses, coordinate discovery process for litigation matters; basic legal research; File and serve motions, pleadings and discovery requests & responses; Demand, gather, track, update, organize, review and summarize medical records from medical service providers; enter medical records into the firm s case management system; coordinate delivery of medical records for use in independent medical examinations; assist in the coordination of IMEs; Assist in the preparation of cases for trial, hearing or mediation; Litigation support of attorneys with investigation, coordination of expert and lay witnesses, evidence management; Effectively communicate and interact with the firm s clients, Claim examiner customers, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, vendors, and colleagues to exchange appropriate information and documentation relative to the litigation process; Administrative case management, data integrity, documentation of communications in electronic and physical case files. Document and correspondence production. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is desirable, and a certificate of completion from a recognized paralegal training program is preferred. 5+ years of experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a New York litigation, oriented law firm or corporate law department; Knowledge of Discovery, Pleadings and basic Motion Practice pertaining to New York personal injury litigation; knowledge of and experience with medical issues and records is helpful; Advanced written communication skill. Advanced oral communications and interpersonal skills; Strong computer technology skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products; case management software; online court dockets; ability to research via internet. Excellent time management, organization and attention to detail; Ability to work independently, efficiently and carefully in a high volume environment; Ability to succeed and thrive in meeting time deadlines; Strong team player willing to work effectively with others, at all levels and to step outside a defined role where required to advance the firm's business. Demonstrated, deeply-ingrained enthusiasm and skills necessary to provide excellent customer service to clients, claim examiners, internal customers within firm.
