Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Investigate the facts of a case. Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles. Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing systems. Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help lawyers prepare for trials. Draft correspondence and legal documents, such as contracts and mortgages. Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court. Help lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel. Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions. Gain valuable and real-world legal experience by working alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case to the discovery period through trial and post-trial findings and appeals. Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience to work in the areas of medical malpractice and insurance defense. A strong work ethic in addition to a litigation background. Must be responsible, ability to multi-task, possess the ability to organize and maintain complex litigation files; have excellent technical, interpersonal, and client-related skills; have a creative and diplomatic approach to problem solving and a keen sense of organization. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and general proficiency and ability to learn various software applications. Deadline: 11-May-2019 (CST)
