Title : Associate Attorney

Associate Attorney Candidate will review pleadings, assist with task and workflow management, work with pleadings and accompanying paperwork and provide professional legal assistance, advice, and counsel with respect to collections and creditor s rights. May require research and analysis of legal questions. Will also entail court appearances, often on a daily basis. Will a high level of responsibility within established guidelines but is encouraged to exercise initiative. Review and approve pleadings, including but not limited to lawsuits, motions, and responses. Review answered files and handle litigation, including court appearances both in person and by phone. Track and respond to consumer/attorney correspondence throughout the litigation cycle. Assist with assigned projects and tasks. Review statuses of cases and provide legal analysis on how to move forward. Negotiate resolutions with consumers/consumer attorneys. Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited college or university. Current license to practice law in the State of New Mexico. Experience in collections law preferred. Proven experience in reviewing legal documents for accuracy. First-chair experience handling court hearings and/or trials. Management experience is preferred. Mediation and/or arbitration experience in litigation preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and WordPerfect. Ability to work long hours under strict, often short deadlines. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing.
