Paralegal Duties: Handle litigation practice that includes both plaintiff and defense work in the areas of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, construction litigation, malpractice, negligence, suits against the government, administrative appeals, and some appellate work. We do not practice family law, personal injury law, or criminal law. Assisting 2 attorneys in drafting pleadings, correspondence, and settlement agreements; reviewing and responding to discovery; reviewing, organizing, and analyzing client documents and document production; interfacing with clients; preparing attorneys for hearings; pulling cases off Lexis/Westlaw; scheduling meetings; maintaining and organizing files; overall management of cases from beginning to end; eFiling; looking up Travis County civil docket information and setting hearings; and calculating litigation deadlines and keeping track of same. Qualifications: Bachelor degree in English, Journalism, History, Philosophy, or other writing intensive major required. Paralegal certificate required. Working knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, including word processing, creating table of contents, table of authorities, tracking changes and merging documents. Experience with trial presentation/preparation software and eDiscovery software is a plus. Trial experience a plus. Must have excellent writing and communication skills, and a high degree of attention to detail. Smart and driven individual who is comfortable working in a small office environment.
