Employment Law Paralegal/ Litigation Secretary The candidate will work directly with work directly with and support the Employment Law Attorneys/ Managing Attorney. Will work with other members of the Employment Law department, as well as other departments (i.e., Workers Compensation, Personal Injury, Administration, Intake, etc.), as assigned. May be tasked with special projects on an as needed basis requiring direction and guidance by Management and/or other Pod Leaders. Process correspondence, prepare mailings, and update tasks/deadlines daily; Monitor calendar and identify deadlines to ensure department compliance; Update supervisor on all significant case developments and timely escalate issues/concerns when necessary; Assist in tracking and monitoring pending attorney tasks; File complaints and follow up on service of process; Manage cases in State and Federal court, and assist in the preparation of notices, motions, pleadings, and forms, by preparing shells, proofreading, and formatting; Assemble documents for filing and lodging with court, e-file on CM/ECF and OneLegal, and arrange copies of filings to be delivered to judge s chambers; Prepare shells for discovery, set up appointments to verify discovery responses, and prepare document production; Communicate and correspond with client(s) about case status and preparation (i.e. telephonically, in-person, etc.); Directly communicate with clients to answer questions, give case updates, and conduct further interviews and investigations into their case Draft, file, and serve PAGA letters, Right to Sue letters, two week letters, and demand for employment records; Conduct initial consultations of prospective clients. If retained, draft and finalize retainer and related forms; Act as interpreter in meetings with clients; Review and scan documents to be maintained as client records; Conduct and assist with legal research; and Perform other duties as assigned by Management and/or Pod Leaders. Qualifications: Paralegal certificate in active standing or equivalent experience; Possess a working knowledge of all phases of litigation; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel) and other applications and/or systems (i.e., Adobe, Internet); The right candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, is required as over 90% of our clients are Spanish speaking. Acute knowledge of filings; Acute knowledge of employment law; Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion and tact; Ability to communicate effectively with a range of individuals; Possess strong organizational/clerical skills; Ability to work alone or as part of a team; Ability to pay very close attention to detail; Ability to adhere to law office procedures; Ability to identify urgent tasks and to prioritize accordingly; Able to practice appropriate office etiquette; Ability to manage their time and multi-task effectively; Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure; and Ability to adapt to new situations and changing priorities.
