Estates Paralegal The Candidate will be responsible for heavy contact with clients, financial advisors and managing attorneys on all aspects of trusts and estates work. Investigate and gather assets of decedents. Handle routine and complex financial transactions, including but not limited to: Arrange for distribution and payment of debts. Maintain estates and trust asset records. Prepare and file State and Federal estate and inheritance tax returns as required. Prepare and file gift tax returns. Family Office services for specific clients (maintain client-related document files; respond to clients and client representatives related to same). Foundation services, including processing contributions from foundations, maintaining annual list of contributions, processing wire transfers and gift checks, and filing completed annual returns with federal and state taxing authorities. Database management Experience with basic computer programs (including Excel) and a familiarity with basic accounting functions is preferred. The candidate should have a four-year college degree or paralegal certificate required with 3+ years experience, general knowledge of trusts and estates administration. Should have strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and be comfortable prioritizing and balancing a variety of tasks. The ability to manage confidential information with discretion, and a desire to grow in the position.
