Paralegal Duties: Works directly with and assists experienced attorneys in a 30+ year boutique eminent domain/real estate litigation law firm located in Austin, Texas with a statewide presence with everyday actions and litigation tasks. Assist in all aspects of litigation, including assisting with client intake, assisting in preparing and revising settlement proposals, preparing and revising discovery requests and responses, assisting with document production, open records requests, monitoring docket and filing deadlines, preparing and revising pleadings, and assisting with hearing and trial preparations and other similar litigation related tasks. Responsible for some administrative tasks like opening and closing matters, maintaining files (paper and electronic), shared responsibility for fielding phone calls, and assisting the firm s attorneys and clients in in-office meetings and occasionally at hearings/trials when necessary. Will also work closely with the firm s 7 attorneys in a collaborative way and will be expected to assist proactively in handling the firm s caseload/docket. Will also routinely interact with the firm s wide range of clients statewide, including very sophisticated urban/commercial landowners as well as rural agricultural landowners. Assisting with client intake. Assisting with preparing and revising settlement proposals. Preparing and revising discovery requests and responses. Assisting with document production. Open records requests. Monitoring docket and filing deadlines. Preparing and revising pleadings. Assist with hearing and trial preparations and other similar litigations related tasks. Opening and closing matters. Maintaining files. Shared responsibility for fielding phone calls and assisting the firm s attorneys and clients in in-office meetings. Occasionally assisting the firm s attorneys at hearings/trials when necessary. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or certificate of proficiency in paralegal work. 5+ years of experience in of paralegal litigation experience with a law firm or corporate/governmental entity. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent customer service skills. Strong phone conversation skills. Exceptional organization. Goal oriented.
