Probate and Trust Administration Paralegal The candidate is responsible to assist attorneys in all stages of probate and trust administration (i.e. asset collection, appraisals, estate planning documentation, asset allocation agreements, preparation of documents related to the transfer of entity interests. Ensure proper setup and maintenance of client files utilizing the firms processes as well as creating physical file folders and labels (copying, scanning, and profiling all original documents and emails). Perform routine trust accounting. Review Wills for creation and direction of testamentary trusts. Obtain tax identification number for trust and Coordinate with co-workers for project completion and success. Obtain the Will and draft necessary documents to file will with probate court. Evaluate assets (as of date of death and alternate valuation date); verify bank balances and prepare inventory. Obtain taxpayer I.D. number for estates from the IRS. Draft distribution schedule and, as appropriate, coordinate and/or direct the distribution of assets. Maintain estate records. Determine the documentation necessary to effect sale or transfer of probate and non- probate assets including real estate, securities, bank accounts, other case earnings, promissory notes, mortgages, automobiles, and recreational vehicles. Work with estate accountant to obtain federal and state tax clearance. Draft all routine documents in a probate proceeding. Draft deeds and real estate excise tax affidavits. Obtain County Assessor records as on parcel of real estate and Record deeds with County Recorder. The candidate must have 5+ years of experience in Probate and Trust Administration. Paralegal certificate is needed. Estate Planning drafting experience is preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, Excel is required. Wealth Docs experience is a plus. Strong spelling, writing and editing skills, including proof reading and Excellent presentation and attitude to deliver customized service to clients are critical. Spanish fluency is a plus.
