Manager of Paralegal Services Duties: Work closely with Practice Group leaders to identify and develop opportunities to increase paralegal utilization within legal practices and develop plans to achieve such utilization. Partner with practice group leaders and the Associate Committee to develop training and to train associates on the value and effective use of paralegal services. Monitor billable and non-billable hours of all paralegals, assess workloads, and use such information to assist the firm in effectively delegating and assigning work to paralegals with a goal of achieving the best possible client service and profitability for the Firm. Collect and disseminate feedback on paralegal skills and performance and provide input to the Paralegal committee including recommendations relating to paralegals. Identify training needs and provide opportunities for cross-training and skill enhancement as needed. Partner with HR and Training Departments to provide annual paralegal training. Review and analyze requests to add paralegal positions; facilitate communication with the committee and HR for approval. Recommend employment actions including hiring, compensation changes, reassignment, and termination to the committee and HR. Assist in the coordination of the annual evaluation process. Participate in committee analysis of paralegal compensation. Monitor and address overtime as needed. Coordinate coverage for paralegals on leave or PTO. Consult and coordinate with E-Discovery and Litigation Support personnel as needed. Maintain a high level of confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents. Travel to all Bradley offices to meet with paralegals and lawyers and develop plans for each office relating to paralegal utilization. Perform work as a paralegal, billing a minimum of 500 hours annually. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor Degree and/or ABA approved Paralegal Certification. 5+ Years of experience as a Paralegal in a Law Firm. Use of discretion and independent judgment in managing legal service providers and acting as a liaison between attorneys, paralegals, the paralegal committee and human resources. Ability to effectively identify needs and appropriately resource the need. Effective delegation and follow up. Experience with legal billing systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Accuracy, attention to detail and good organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task. Strong client service focus and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
