Immigration Paralegal The candidate will serve as the principal administrator for the firm's immigration and naturalization processes in the US. Under the direction of the Firmwide Employee Relations Director, will partner closely with the firm's external immigration team and internal teams to develop tools and processes to enhance the candidate and employee experience. Closely team with the lawyer recruiting team, Human Resources, Lawyer Development, and Chief Practice Officers regarding nonimmigrant and immigrant matters, requesting case-related information as needed, and keeping stakeholders informed of case updates. Liaise with the firm's outside immigration counsel to prepare and process employment-based immigration petitions, including: O-1, H, L-1, TN, H-3, and E-3 visas; EB-1, NIW, PERM, I-140 petitions, and I-485 applications. Regularly provide instruction and advice to employees and foreign nationals on immigration practices and procedures and assist with any problems that may arise relative to a foreign national's immigration status. Work with the firm's outside immigration counsel and the practice group to review appropriate options and determine the ultimate direction taken. Ensure compliance with the firm's immigration policy and procedures and evaluate issues for escalation as needed. Help coordinate with international offices for the immigration needs of US employees assigned to work in foreign countries. Compile and maintain various immigration status reports and assist with strategic initiatives to increase the effectiveness of the immigration process as needed. The candidate should have state-approved accredited paralegal certification. Must have 5+ years of immigration-related work experience. The ability to collaborate with immigration attorneys and internal hiring managers is required. Extensive knowledge of Visa, permanent residency, and secondary benefit applications is needed. Must have experience in preparing petition packages for review and filling. The ability to manage immigration inquiries, gather required information, and keep clients informed of progress is essential. Should have proficiency in legal terminology and immigration tracking software, preferably Cobalt. Exceptional record-keeping and communication skills are a must.
