Legal Secretary - Litigation/Labor and Employment The candidate will provide secretarial support and assistance to assigned attorneys. Will prepare/revise/finalize correspondence, pleadings (for both federal and state court filings), client documents and other documents as requested. Will be drafting documents and/or reviewing documents for grammatical/formatting errors. Will file and search for documents with appropriate courts, including experience completing e-filings and docket searches. Will maintain attorney calendar, make travel arrangements, process expense reports, register for CLE credit classes, etc. will open new client/matter engagements, maintain electronic and paper client files. Will schedule client meetings, communicate with clients as necessary
The candidate should have ability to communicate with other departments in the Firm to assess and answer 1st round questions in regards to assignments, invoices, time entry, ets. Should have ability to handle large volumes of filing/document assembly. Should have flexibility to work overtime as assigned. Should have switchboard back-up as needed. Should have high school diploma or equivalency mandatory. Should have a minimum of 3 years experience as a Litigation Legal Secretary. Should have current Labor and Employment and commercial litigation experience in a law firm environment desired. Should have strong working knowledge of technology including Office 2010 Suite (Word, Outlook & Excel) and court websites. Must have strong typing, organizational and communication skills. Should have strong sense of confidentiality and ability to exercise sound judgment. Should have high attention to detail. Should have courteous and positive attitude. Should be a self-starter who is assertive and proactive with excellent problem solving, organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. Should have experience with a document management system (eDocs), billing and time entry programs a plus.
