Associate Criminal - Personal Injury Attorney Duties: Manages a large caseload. Manage full case handling responsibilities from inception through settlement. Effectively take or monitor statements of clients or third parties. Independently handle decision making on a case by case bases. Regularly consult with clients, adjusters, ADA's and other parties as needed to effectively move cases forward and resolve. Effectively negotiate dispositions/settlements including all aspects of criminal litigation. Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants. Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences. Cultivate relationships with the firms existing and future clients. Monthly case reviews. Confirm vital correspondence is filed appropriately. Case review with clients. Build client cases, verifying that all client information and documentation is obtained and properly filed; Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation (e.g. supporting depositions; police reports; accident reports, criminal discovery packages); Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement; Review daily reminders. Review daily, weekly, and upcoming monthly calendar items and prioritize workload. Complete tasks. Triage and prioritize responses to emails and phone calls. Organize, sort, and summarize case information and files. Draft letters/reports/ documents. Prepare discovery demands and criminal motions. Prepare for meetings/court appearances. Meet with the legal team for case status updates. Provide client updates. Attend Case Status Update meetings and update records. Complete monthly new matter goals. Complete monthly disposition goals. Qualifications: Be a graduate of an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law for the state in New York. Be in good standing with the NY Bar Association. Experience in litigation experience in criminal prosecution or defense is a plus. Be prepared to discuss experience. Must be comfortable handling any number of hearings that may be relevant/granted in a criminal proceeding.
