Patent Paralegal The candidate will be responsible to work with an integrated team to perform paralegal functions of a variable nature. Develop and maintain systems to collect, store and retrieve data. Locate and expedite requested documentation; draft original correspondence and materials for communication under attorney's signature; draft original correspondence to various parties and clients for own signature. Communicate with clients, government agencies/officials, consultants and various other parties on a regular basis to collect and assemble information. Perform other tasks as necessary or directed. The candidate must have a Bachelors degree and/or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience within an Intellectual Property practice area. Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated analytical ability are needed. Ability to set priorities, exercise independent judgment, and initiate projects is essential. Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines is required and must be responsible; resourceful and professional. Knowledge of all aspects of Foreign and U.S. patent prosecution, including: identifying incoming communications from the USPTO and foreign associates and preparation of template responses for same is required. Experience conducting searches on databases is must. Knowledge of online resources including EFS-Web electronic filing system and PAIR, Global IP Estimator, and at least one docket database (preferably Foundation IP) is critical. A minimum of 3 years IP patent prosecution experience is must. Japanese or Chinese language proficiency is a plus.
