Public Strategies Paralegal RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate licensing/local permit licensing; work independently with localities in securing local business licenses and health and zoning permits as well as filing for Assumed Names.Handle commercial real estate duties, including preparation of real estate documents, UCC documents, and title work while corresponding with title companies and with client through closings. Perform independent work on corporate filings in Virginia, including filings with the Virginia State Corporation Commission and various Circuit Courts. Review and research legislation in relation to clients and cases, providing reports and case studies on model legislation and issue history. Provide support to government relations team. Maintain political budgets for Firm and clients; contribute to budget allocation decisions and strategy of political giving; Coordinate disbursement of client political contributions, working closely alongside legislators and official state political parties to distribute funds. Monitor daily General Assembly Floor Sessions and committee meetings; review committee dockets and coordinate daily team schedules, working closely with 140 legislative offices to schedule firm and client meetings. Maintain legislative database and analyze and track legislation and regulator) developments for clients, resulting in more than 300 bills and budget amendments tracked during the most recent session. File yearly lobbyist registration forms and disclosure forms and advise team members and clients on disclosure regulations. Respond to client inquiries and information requests; perform legislative research upon request from client or team members. Coordinate political fundraisers for film and maintain political event calendar and other meeting calendars throughout the year. Manage client billing accounts, including daily data input through Elite software. The candidate with a four year Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate required. Should have strong communication (written and oral), organizational and interpersonal skills; experience handling complex matters; the ability to prioritize and balance a variety of tasks; and thrive in a fast-paced, high intensity environment. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
