Associate Attorney - Litigation The candidate will handle mortgage-related litigation files in State and Federal Courts. Provide legal advice to the Firm's mortgage servicing clients. Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes. Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and any other necessary legal documentation during the course of litigation in State District and County Courts, Probate Courts, Appellate Courts, Federal District Courts, and Federal Bankruptcy Courts. Handle civil litigation cases from referral to resolution, which may necessitate the use of written and oral advocacy, motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, trial, and appellate court briefing and argument. Meet hourly billing requirements. Should have a Bachelor's Degree or higher, Doctor of Jurisprudence with a license to practice law in the State and Federal Courts in Texas, including Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and 3+ years of experience in finance or representation of financial institutions in real estate related matters. Must have exceptional communication skills (oral and written). Should have the ability to work through complex mortgage-related issues, represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community. Must be dependable, ethical, and trustworthy. Should have a professional image at all times. Strong desire to provide exceptional customer service required. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
