Labor And Employment Paralegal The candidate counsels employers in all aspects of the employment relationship, represents employers in grievances, arbitration and discrimination complaints, and defends clients in federal and state courts and before various administrative bodies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Illinois Department of Human Rights. Investigate discrimination claims under federal or state statutes. Attend fact-finding interviews regarding personnel matters. Create detailed notes/documentation of investigatory interviews. Oversee administrative duties in Labor and Employment department, and perform administrative duties during staff shortages as necessary. Execute research and clerking projects for attorneys outside of Labor and Employment department. Assist attorneys with trial preparation. Complete copy, scan, bate stamping, index discovery and binding projects. Pull cases on Westlaw; research and analyze statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, etc. Investigate facts and law of case to determine causes of action. Excel spreadsheet projects. Summarize deposition and hearing transcripts. Complete Circuit, Federal and Appellate court filings.
