Paralegal Duties: Review docket for deadlines, understand docket and deadlines and action needed on each file. Inform working attorney of deadlines. Filing of 371 and PCT patent applications, both electronically and paper (including preparation and review of necessary filing documents). Emphasis on all aspects of foreign prosecution practice. Calculate Patent Term Adjustments. Review files and preparation of Information Disclosure Statements and accompanying documents. Effect national phase entry of PCT applications, and prepare and file continuing applications. Correspond with foreign associates, oversee payment of foreign associates invoices, and prepare of reporting letters to client. Effect portfolio transfers and manage multi-client portfolios. File and assist in prosecution of design applications (including convention deadlines for filing abroad). Track chain of title in U.S. patents and ability to perfect same. Qualifications: Four year degree and/or paralegal training/certificate preferred. 2-5 years of relevant work experience in a professional environment which includes progressive responsibility in managing patent prosecution matters. Previous Law firm experience preferred.. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Extensive knowledge of U.S. patent rules and procedure; knowledge of PCT and/or national laws of other countries. High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, U.S. Patent Office Electronic Filing System, and other internet research tools. Previous experience with Filesite and/or Foundation IP is a plus. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to perform well under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines. Reliable and dependable team player; Respectful to other individuals working directly or indirectly with them. Work independently, taking initiative to move projects to conclusion.
