Paralegal Responsibilities: Maintain an orderly work flow in your area of responsibility. Set priorities to accomplish the attorney(s) work. Keep records for client billing by recording time daily. Litigation support activities including, but not limited to, database management and electronic filing. Summarize medical records and issue subpoenas for third party records and related tracking. Summarize materials by preparing deposition outlines, highlighting issues and compiling all relevant information. Facilitate comprehensive information flow by drafting documents including correspondence, legal memoranda and pleadings. Establish clear case organization by administering and maintaining case materials. Perform special tasks as needed which may include learning new functions on the computer or specific applications such as litigation management software, databases. Other duties, as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate, required. 5+ years' prior litigation paralegal experience. Knowledge of California and Federal court rules and procedures, especially as they relate to court filings and calendaring. Familiarity with drafting and responding to discovery requests, including interrogatories, document demands, subpoenas, deposition notices, and deposition objections. Familiarity with drafting pro hac applications and supporting pleadings for other types of motions (e.g. discovery motions). Familiarity with reviewing and issue coding documents. Familiarity with drafting privilege logs. Willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Analytical/detail oriented. Proven work ethic, dependable and reliable. Good verbal and written communication English language skills. Ability to work overtime if required (regular work hours [37.5] per week ). Ability to multi-task. Takes direction well (whether by email and/or orally), and understands his/her role within the group. Familiarity with Trial Director and other types of trial technology. Familiar with Excel, Word, and Outlook. Previous experience with Relativity or other similar e-discovery review platforms. Previous experience with managing productions of electronically stored information. Ability to work well in a group and across offices.
