Attorney Duties: Defending insureds in civil suits pending in Circuit and District Courts in Jefferson county and contiguous counties. Will take and attend depositions of parties, respond to written discovery requests, request, review, and summarize medical records, meet with clients and Claims employees, prepare litigations summaries and reports as required, and prepare and present cases in the courtroom at trial. Additional duties may be assigned to the selected Attorney by the Managing Attorney. Qualifications: Must have a law degree from an A.B.A accredited law school and excellent academic credentials. Must have an active law license to practice in Alabama and a member in good standing with the Alabama Bar. 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation preferably insurance defense. Knowledge of local and state discovery rules and trial procedures. Competencies in Windows based operating systems, Word, Adobe, Alafile and Alacourt systems. Experience working in a paperless electronic environment. Should have exceptional knowledge of civil trial procedure, outstanding research abilities, and excellent written and oral advocacy skills. Should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to independently manage a caseload in a time sensitive environment.
