Paralegal Assistant The candidate will provide assistance to the attorneys and paralegals in the Intellectual Property Practice Specialty Center with client management projects, paralegal responsibilities and legal administrative support. Will work with firm billing coordinators to ensure compliance with billing requirements and assist with many other client initiatives to ensure healthy relationships with core clients are maintained. Provide assistance to attorneys and paralegals in the Intellectual Property Practice Specialty Center with fact investigations, document preparation and production, database management and file organization, court and Patent Trial and Appeal Board filings, docketing/case management, and overall client service. Functions specific to intellectual property litigation may include assistance in preparation of pleadings, motions, and briefs and accompanying exhibits, electronic filing in Federal courts around the country and in inter partes review proceedings at the PTAB, download and organize files from United States Patent Office, cite-checking, deposition preparation, management of document production databases, and hearing preparation including assist in preparing PowerPoint presentations for Markman, summary judgment and other hearings. Will provide duties include: Client management. Administrative IP litigation functions. Attention to detail and quality of work. Cite checking and proofing of filings. Learn/develop technical proficiency in database use and management; Internet/electronic research; and project folder/electronic file maintenance. Maintain professional demeanor and attitude. Comply with firm policies. Manage competing priorities and attorney and paralegal expectations. Independently organize and manage files, including those subject to protective orders, or delegate similar tasks to Records Clerk and supervise same. Attend and participate in in-house CLEs. Anticipate attorney and paralegal needs. Deadline tracking and docketing. The candidate has Bachelor's or better degree in General Studies. Must have certification or better in Paralegal Studies. Have 1+ year Law office/ Intellectual Property/ Litigation experience is preferred. Must have ability to write clearly in a well-organized fashion. Must have proficiency with Word and Excel. Must have ability to deliver superior service to all internal and external customers and communicate effectively. Must have ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with clients and employees at all times; professional appearance required. Must have ability to successfully perform position requirements with excellent organizational, time-management and prioritization skills required. Must have ability to work collaboratively within a team; ability and willingness to adapt to changing business demands. Must have ability to produce acceptable amount of work efficiently and accurately; ability to produce quality final work product. Must have ability to exercise good judgment at all times by making sound and practical decisions; ability to assume responsibility for decisions and act decisively under deadlines. High level of professional integrity is required; ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust.
