Paralegal - Estates and Trusts Administration Responsibilities : The candidate will be assisting in the drafting of estate planning and trust administration documents. Preparing asset lists, analyzing bank and business records, identifying trust and non-trust assets, and identifying title and character of assets. Meeting and communicating with clients and client advisors. Assisting clients with trust funding and preparing documents to facilitate same, recordation of deeds with accompanying transfer documents. Maintaining client files and preparing materials for client meetings. Preparation and assembly of federal estate tax returns. Calendaring critical deadlines and meetings on calendar system. The position will require initiating and handling probate cases or other proceedings concerning the administration of estates/trusts, from inception to conclusion. Requirements : The candidate should have a BA or BS Degree. Minimum of five (5) years of experience. Probate court experience is required. Should have Knowledge of Probate Court processes including court filings; which includes petitions for instructions, Probate Code Sections 850 petitions, petitions to approve accountings, and objections and replies to petitions. Familiarity with Probate Code notice requirements and ability to manage calendar notice deadlines. Managing trust and probate administration case matter and deadlines. Determining beneficiaries and persons entitled to notice. Knowledge of court-supervised procedures to transfer property without probate (including spousal property petitions, Heggstad petitions, and affidavits regarding real property of small value). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Experienced in using an electronic calendaring program for law firms; Must meet the requirements of the California Business and Professions Code 6450-6456. Must have experience with trust litigation cases, be highly organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently.
