Legal Assistant / Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for: Document production, administrative functions and client contact. Creates, types, edits, and compiles documents as well as prepares and types routine correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents. Utilizes filing court's online E-file system to electronically file documents. Creates and maintains all office files, logs and any other information in relation to the work of the attorney. Organizes and maintains case files, pleadings and other documents. Responds to and assists clients by answering questions, providing information and assuring appropriate follow-through and/or resolution. Enters time, reviews billing, conducts conflict checks, maintains client files and preparation of new matter memos. Keeps accurate time records. Organizes and collects information from clients and provides such as medical records, insurance, employment and financial information. Drafts complaints and answers, discovery responses, routine notices, affidavits, motions and petitions. Establishes, organizes and maintains pleading boards, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists. Conducts legal research to identify laws and court decisions relevant to pending cases including locating cases, depositions, opinions, reports and information related to the matter. Uses all available resources including libraries and computer data systems. Must have excellent communication, writing and research skills. Should have 6+ years of experience in law firm, preferably in litigation, or personal injury work. Requires solid organizational skills and strong attention to detail in meeting deadlines. Must exhibit a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment utilizing excellent judgment, administrative abilities, and decision-making skills. Must be highly proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word & Outlook. iManage is preferred.
