Litigation/Bankruptcy Hybrid Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Provide support to a team of attorneys by updating calendars, scheduling appointments and docketing case events/deadlines. Draft, proofread, finalize and file pleadings and other Court filings. Prepare documents and exhibits for mediations and court hearings/trials. Assist with all stages of discovery including preparation of written discovery requests and responses, document collection, reviewing and summarizing documents, managing document databases, preparing privilege logs, and coordinating with vendors. Conduct legal and factual research. Analyze, summarize and compile timelines and reports regarding findings. Perform daily case management tasks, such as maintaining general contact with clients, verifying case deadlines and organizing key case materials. Prepare chronologies of medical records, Prioritize, review, organize and summarize a high volume of medical records. Communicate directly with clients, attorneys, court personnel, experts and other legal professionals. Prepare authorizations and stipulations for record retrieval. Manage deadlines to ensure efficient case development. Conduct medical, jury verdict and expert witness research. Provide case status updates to the team on a regular basis. Assist with trial preparation and deposition prep as needed. Electronic filing of documents with bankruptcy court. Prepare template bankruptcy and adversary proceeding pleadings, including notices of appearance, requests for special notice, proofs of claim, declarations, orders, and certificates of service. Timekeeping and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 5 years of experience. Must have a great attitude, will be a team player, have a proactive work ethic, excellent oral and written communication skills, will be proficient in proof-reading and data entry, detail oriented and have the ability to work well under pressure. Should be familiar with a broad range of litigation/bankruptcy practices including general and local rules. Receivership experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of the court procedures, discovery process, Ability to work collaboratively and/or independently, while being proactive in prioritizing multiple projects to meet deadlines. Must be knowledgeable regarding legal filing and record-keeping practices, as relevant to the specific practice. Experience with trial preparation and with electronically filing court documents. Knowledge of local and state rules. Advanced word processing/computer skills utilizing a variety of software programs including, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Adobe, Fileshare and electronic database document management systems. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation. attention to detail and follow-through skills, should also be highly organized and able to successfully multi-task and meet set deadlines. Strong customer service, ability to be flexible and work effectively as part of a team is required.
