Legal Assistant / Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end litigation support to the attorneys, for about half of caseload. Will do routine administrative functions such as handling telephone calls, scanning documents, filing, calendaring, light legal research, preparing and drafting legal documents and correspondence, as well as managing discovery and assisting with case and trial preparation. Receive documents [court orders, pleadings, discovery, correspondence], review for deadlines, enter same in calendar. Correctly calculate our deadlines to file responsive papers (using cloud computing software like Clio). Prepare a Trial calendar (using Clio) where applicable. Maintain the firm s calendar for accuracy. Assist attorneys with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents, including Pleadings, Motions, Discovery in Federal and State (California) courts. Proofread and finalize the documents. Review, compile exhibits; Serve on court, counsel. E-filing (along with E-service and mail/ service), including the review and update the proof of service. Assist with Document Production. Maintain the Firm s cloud case filing system. Record and store client information. Telephone intake for new potential clients. Answer the phone (direct lawyers, clients, vendors to correct person). General office administration. Must have 4-year degree and Paralegal certificate. Must have 2-4 years of previous experience as a paralegal in civil litigation (specifically litigation in re business, employment, real estate matters). Familiarity with Westlaw, legal research is essential. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent written and verbal communication skill is essential.
